New people with new projects. New projects with new ideas. To keep evolving its not enough to be a good designer or a great problem solver. You need to be involved with the community that makes design possible.
Clients
It's important to get involved with other people's ideas. Involved with their mission and their goals. Clients aren't accounts -- they are people who are trying to get their message and products to connect with other people. When someone comes to me with a project, I want to know not just about the project, but about them. Why are they in this business? How did they get started? Everyone and everything has a story. Good stories make great projects and products.
Peers
I am not the only designer in the world. And that's great! It is important to constantly expose yourself to new methods and ideas. Peer insight is invaluable and so is developing a strong network of collaborators. My knowledge and expertise are constantly being challenged and advanced through contact with other creative minds. I'm always learning from and making connections the with many talented professionals all over the world who help bring to life the diverse projects I work on.
Community
Just look around. On the street corner or in your office. It's full of people. People make design possible. Great design is good communication. Though it may seem obvious, without people there is no one to communicate with. It is important to always be taking note of people. People of all sorts, from the checkout line to those making headlines. I'm always looking and listening to what people are doing and saying.
